SORS

This show was recorded on the 14th April 2019 with my good friend Tomo in Gifu, Japan.
It focuses on the band 'Good Luck Heiwa', formed by high school classmates Takuji Nomura (keyboards) and Ito Daichi (drums & whistle).
Their unique sound is made of elements of New Orleans, R&B, Minimal, Exotic, Fusion, Stride piano, and Breakbeats, mixed with Game music and Pop music.
Check out their website here for more information:

This show was recorded via Zoom on the 2nd January 2021 with my good friend Tomo from Tokyo, Japan.
It focuses on the life and music of Japanese musician and artist Makoto Kubota, whose career has spanned five decades and covers a wide range of different genres including folk, rock, traditional Okinawan music, exotica, ambient and lo-fi.

I highly recommend this article on Kubota which provides a great overview of his work:

This show was recorded on the 8th April 2018 with my good friend Tomo in Gifu, Japan. Hot on the heals of Tomo's fantastic YMO article in 'The Wire' magazine entitled 'A User's Guide to Yellow Magic Orchestra' (https://www.thewire.co.uk/issues/404), this radio show expands the YMO family to look at the work of Gen Hoshino.

Hoshino san is a true polymath, who is often seen as continuing Hosono's legacy.

Check out this recent book (in Japanese) written about both of them by Hoshino here: http://tinyurl.com/y73ms92s

The show is divided into three sections:

This show was recorded on the 2nd May 2017 with my good friend Tomo, and completes my current YMO radio series, focusing on one of my heroes, Ryuichi Sakamoto.

Look out for Tomo's forthcoming YMO article in 'The Wire' magazine - more details to follow!

The show is divided into five different sections:

EARLY YMO
1. Ryuichi Sakamoto - Thousand Knives (1978)
2. Yellow Magic Orchestra - Tong Poo (1979)
3. Yellow Magic Orchestra - Technopolis (1979)
4. Yellow Magic Orchestra - Nice Age (1980)
5. Ryuichi Sakamoto - War Head (1980)

I've just come back from a short trip to Japan, and while I was there I was lucky enough to hook up with my good friend Tomo san to record another radio show!
This time we look at the early work of YMO drummer Yukihiro Takahashi. I hope you enjoy the selection.

The show was recorded on Saturday 8th April 2017

I first met Jeremy back in in the early 90's through our work with the band Raw Stylus, and if there was one common musical influence that captured the excitement of those formative years it would be Steely Dan. Join us as we play through some key Steely Dan tracks and explore some lesser known gems too.

Here's the full tracklist:

I was so happy to hook up with my friend and fellow Herbie Hancock fan Tom O'Grady to indulge in over two and half hours of Herbie related music plucked from his personal vinyl collection. Tom and I first met when we played keyboards together in Kirk DeGeorgio's band 'The Beauty Room', and have stayed in close contact ever since.
Most recently we filmed a live deconstruction of 'Chameleon' for Point Blank Music School which you can check here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIR1O...

I hope you enjoy this selection as much as I did!
