The Human League - Don't You Want Me (Xmas special)

See video

Happy Christmas everyone! Here's the last Point Blank FFL of the year which we filmed inside a cosy log cabin in Switzerland. It was quite hard work carrying my Arp Odyssey and Push2 up the mountain, but luckily I'm a great skier so it should be easy getting back down.

All the best for 2016!

Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You (Ableton Push 2 Deconstruction)

See video

This is deconstruction of the seminal French house track by Thomas Bangalter, Alan Braxe and Benjamin Diamond which samples Chaka Khan's Fate. I enjoyed checking out the new filters in Live 9.5 as well as the slice mode.

Ableton Push 2: Sampling from vinyl

Alongside my 'First Look' video, I also made this video which showcases the sampling capability of Push 2 and Live 9.5. You can check out the track I made here: https://soundcloud.com/skioakenfull/beastie-boys-sure-shot-ski-oakenfull...

Ableton Push 2: First Look

I was really lucky to get my hands in Ableton Push 2 a week before release so I could make this video. The new waveform manipulation is amazing! It takes me back to the days of using an AKAI S3000 sampler.

Roots Manuva - Witness (1 Hope) Deconstruction in Ableton Live

See video

Here's another deconstruction. I love this track by Roots Manuva, originally released in 2001 on Big Dada Records. In the video I program the beat, and design the bass and arpeggio sample. There's also a little jam at the end with some vocals provided by fire_sign . Also check out the great Ninja Jamm app from Ninja Tunes.

Clean Bandit & Jess Glynne - Real Love Deconstruction in Ableton Live

See video

Here's another deconstruction. I chose this one as I was given it as a reference track for a writing session I did recently. I love Jess's vocals and think it's a great pop track. In the video I look at some basic music theory, recreate the main elements, focus on production techniques and a little bit of sound design too! Hope you like it.
