DJ Mix

This show was recorded on Sunday the 9th of April 2023 with my good friend Tomokazu Hayashi in Tokyo on my recent trip to Japan.
The show is dedicated to the legendary Japanese musician, composer, and producer Ryuichi Sakamoto (坂本龍一) who passed away a week before the show was made, and is inspired by Haruomi Hosono's 'Medicine Compilation From The Quiet Lodge' album from 1993.
We hope that this show can provide some healing, and allow us to reflect on the incredible life and influence of Sakamoto san.
The photo was taken on the famous steps in Tokyo which inspired the anime 'Kimi no Na wa' (YourName, 君の名は)

Their unique sound is made of elements of New Orleans, R&B, Minimal, Exotic, Fusion, Stride piano, and Breakbeats, mixed with Game music and Pop music.

In 2020 during lockdown in the UK, I composed some ambient music for a project commissioned by my good friend Nick Luscombe.

Here is a description of the show:

Tokyo based DJ, producer and broadcaster Nick Luscombe explores the sound of spring in suburban Tokyo through field recordings and music.

This show was recorded via Zoom on the 2nd January 2021 with my good friend Tomo from Tokyo, Japan.
It focuses on the life and music of Japanese musician and artist Makoto Kubota, whose career has spanned five decades and covers a wide range of different genres including folk, rock, traditional Okinawan music, exotica, ambient and lo-fi.

I highly recommend this article on Kubota which provides a great overview of his work:
